Arts & Sciences (A&S) is where members of the shire make or perform items that would have been made or performed in the middle ages. If it was made or performed in Europe (or beyond) before 1600, then someone in the Society has probably researched or done it.
Some examples include: making armor, sewing clothes, court and middle eastern dancing, playing/singing music, creating scrolls – both calligraphy and painting, spinning and weaving, metal working, cooking, raising silk worms, pouring wax candles, leather working, herbal salves, embroidery, tent making, glassworking — both stained and lampwork, telling stories, brewing and vintening, wood working, fletching arrows, and much more.
